Euroclear Bank Now Eligible for Eurex Clearing Collateral

Euroclear Bank, headquartered in Brussels and serving as an international central securities depository (ICSD), has officially become an eligible securities collateral location of Eurex Clearing AG. The announcement, made today, brings a host of advantages for clients of both Euroclear Bank and Eurex Clearing, paving the way for a more streamlined and efficient collateral management process.

With this collaboration, clients now have the capability to directly post collateral to Eurex Clearing while also optimizing the pool of collateral within Euroclear’s ICSD. This move is going to enhance operational efficiency for market participants, offering them a more seamless experience in managing collateral.

It is noteworthy that Eurex Clearing had previously designated the Bank as an eligible securities settlement location, solidifying their existing partnership. The addition of Euroclear Bank as a collateral location is going to bring further benefits to market participants.

Matthias Graulich, Chief Strategy Officer and Member of the Executive Board of Eurex Clearing, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the added value for clients through smoother access to the central counterparty and enhanced efficiencies across the clearing community. Graulich noted that Euroclear Bank’s inclusion as a collateral location strengthens the offering for buy-side clients, complementing existing services such as ISA Direct and ISA Direct Indemnified clearing models.
