IG Securities Expands to 24-Hour US Trading

IG Securities announces the launch of 24-Hour Trading, delivering clients greater flexibility and access to real-time market opportunities. Starting September 8, 2025, the brokerage will offer continuous five-day trading on 110 U.S. stock CFDs. Investors will now be able to trade continuously from 9:00 AM Monday until 6:00 AM Saturday, aligning with U.S. Daylight Saving Time. 

This move aims to provide traders with greater flexibility and faster responses to market developments. With this change, clients can react immediately to earnings announcements, manage their positions outside of traditional market hours, and adjust their strategies in real-time when critical, market-moving events occur. 

Moreover, the extended hours allow traders to capture better opportunities that often emerge overnight due to global economic and political shifts. IG Securities emphasized that stop-loss and limit orders placed before the launch of extended hours will continue to function as usual.

Once the new schedule begins, these orders will be executed if the target transaction price is reached during the expanded trading period. Consequently, traders must remain attentive to market movements even after regular U.S. trading hours, since positions can affect them at any time throughout the week.

At the same time, the company has reminded clients about important margin requirements. If an account’s effective margin balance drops below 100% of the required maintenance margin at 11:00 AM on any business day, a periodical stop loss will apply, although this measure only affects corporate and FX accounts. Furthermore, if the margin balance falls below 75%, IG Securities will automatically liquidate positions to protect against further losses. By extending trading to a near-continuous schedule, IG Securities is positioning itself as a more dynamic platform for global investors. 

The change not only reflects growing demand for around-the-clock trading access but also highlights the increasing need for investors to manage risks actively in volatile markets.
