Rakuten Securities expands US trading hours access, enabling extended after-market trading and improved investor flexibility for clients.
Rakuten Securities expands its trading services for U.S. equities to meet growing demand for extended market access among retail investors. Beginning June 22, 2026, the company will allow clients to trade U.S. stocks during a newly introduced after-market session running from 5:00 to 9:00 JST. This extension follows the standard U.S. trading window, which operates from 22:30 JST to 5:00 JST the following day.
As a result, investors will gain additional flexibility to respond to market movements outside of traditional hours. Moreover, Rakuten Securities has positioned this enhancement as part of a broader strategy to create near-continuous trading access for global equities. Earlier in January 2026, the firm already introduced pre-market trading, and with this latest update, it will provide up to 16 hours of U.S. stock trading availability per day.
Consequently, clients will be able to respond more efficiently to earnings announcements, macroeconomic data releases, and unexpected geopolitical developments that often occur outside regular trading sessions. In addition, the brokerage will upgrade its platform features to support this expanded schedule. It will display charts that include after-hours price movements, allowing traders to analyze market trends more accurately across extended sessions.
Furthermore, users will gain the ability to switch settings for viewing U.S. stock prices, including current and extended-session pricing data. This improvement will help investors make more informed decisions by offering a clearer picture of price fluctuations throughout the entire trading day. Meanwhile, the expansion reflects a broader trend in global financial markets, where brokers increasingly compete by offering longer trading windows and enhanced digital tools.
As investor behavior continues to shift toward real-time responsiveness, companies like Rakuten Securities aim to strengthen user engagement by reducing time barriers. Ultimately, this initiative will enhance market accessibility for retail traders in Japan and support more dynamic participation in U.S. equity markets. By combining extended trading hours with improved analytical tools, Rakuten Securities will position itself as a more competitive player in the evolving online brokerage landscape while meeting the rising expectations of modern investors.
