GTN today announced that it has secured a Type 1 licence from the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong, marking a significant step in its Asia-Pacific expansion. As a result, the company has strengthened its regional presence by establishing a dedicated local team while also positioning itself to tap into roughly US$3 trillion in capital flows between China and global markets.

Furthermore, this development makes Hong Kong GTN’s sixth regulatory-licensed subsidiary, joining its existing operations in the UK, US, Singapore, UAE, and South Africa. Previously, GTN had already enabled access to Hong Kong and mainland Chinese markets through its network; however, demand has continued to grow rapidly. Consequently, the firm decided to deepen its footprint in the region.

GTN Secures Hong Kong Licence, Expands Access

Manjula Jayasinghe, co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer, emphasized this strategic move, stating, “GTN has provided access to Hong Kong and China markets across its network for several years and has witnessed increasing demand from clients globally to trade in this high-growth region.” She added, “Securing a regulatory licence and establishing a dedicated team in Hong Kong reflects GTN’s continued commitment to the Greater China region.”

Moreover, the new licence allows GTN to expand its service capabilities for institutional partners. For instance, the company will now offer dedicated Greater China servicing through its Hong Kong-based team, ensuring closer regulatory alignment and improved client support. In addition, GTN plans to strengthen cross-border investment flows by enabling seamless access to Hong Kong securities as well as the Stock Connect programme, which links mainland China and Hong Kong markets. At the same time, GTN continues to innovate its product offerings.

Building on its earlier expansion in 2025, the company now provides regulated fractional trading for Hong Kong-listed stocks, thereby making high-value equities more accessible to retail investors. Finally, GTN has streamlined its technology by offering a single integration point that connects partners to over 90 markets and eight asset classes, significantly reducing onboarding time and accelerating market entry.
